This Should Be Good - All Border States Should Take This Action

L.A. Times lead story (also lead of NYT and WP), 'Immigration law may spur a showdown': 'Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed the toughest law against illegal immigration in the country, shrugging aside warnings from religious and civil rights leaders - and President Obama - that it would lead to widespread racial profiling. ... [It] makes it a crime to be in the state illegally and requires police to check suspects for immigration paperwork. ... Immigrant rights groups have vowed a court fight, arguing that regulating immigration is a federal matter.'

You Could Save The Flowery Rhetoric And Say - Wealth Redistribution By A Gigantic Government

REMINDING YOU OF THE OBAMA CONTEXT -- John Del Cecato op-ed in The Hill, 'First principles': 'Inside the Obama campaign, we called them our 'first principles' - three key measures of what an Obama presidency would mean to the nation: his desire to move beyond the divisive politics of the past, in an effort to move forward on big issues; a commitment to take on wealthy, entrenched special interests that have set the Washington agenda for decades; and a willingness to tell the American people not simply what they wanted to hear, but what they needed to know. It has proven to be a reliable guide to how President Barack Obama approaches his job.' Del Cecato is a partner at AKPD Message and Media, the political consulting firm founded by David Axelrod in 1985. He served as media adviser and admaker for Obama for America and Obama-Biden 2008.

Holy Health Care, Batman!! The Critics Weren't Just Politically Motivated?

'Health overhaul will increase nation's tab,' by Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar: 'President Barack Obama's health care overhaul law will increase the nation's health care tab instead of bringing costs down, government economic forecasters concluded Thursday in a sobering assessment of the sweeping legislation. A report by economic experts at the Health and Human Services Department said the health care remake will achieve Obama's aim of expanding health insurance - adding 34 million Americans to the coverage rolls. But the analysis also found that the law falls short of the president's twin goal of controlling runaway costs, raising projected spending by about 1 percent over 10 years. That increase could get bigger, however, since the report also warned that Medicare cuts in the law may be unrealistic and unsustainable, forcing lawmakers to roll them back. The mixed verdict for Obama's signature issue is the first comprehensive look by neutral experts.' 38-page PDF of the actuaries' analysis

Reagan Was Right

The X-37B was launched from Florida last night. The Air Force says it's a "robo-shuttle" designed to carry our space program forward in an unmanned form.

We say it's another segment of Ronald Reagan's Star Wars effort that started with Stealth, added drones and now gives us a full time unmanned platform to destabilize and/or destroy enemies from space, bring down national electrical grids in enemy countries, monitor cyber and satellite traffic and who-knows-what.

Pay close attention, Iran!
